HUL’s ad spend grows by 2.84% in Q1 of FY 17-18

The company’s advertising spend has increased to Rs 905 crore as compared to previous year’s Rs 880 crore.
With the announcement of the financial results for the quarter that ended on June 30, 2017 the advertisement and promotional expenses increased by 2.84 percent to Rs 905 crore as compared to Rs 880 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous year. For the quarter that ended on March 31, 2017, the company’s ad and promotional expenditure was at Rs 853 crore. The company spent Rs 3,470 in the last financial year. By spending heavily on its advertisement, the company witnessed tremendous growth in various products of home and personal care which can be seen as the power of the advertisement.

The Coca Cola Company has 44% market share with PepsiCo as its closest competitor. Health concerns among consumers regarding consumption of sugary soft drinks have resulted in de-growth in the US CSD market. In order to spur sales other beverage companies have gone for innovation in product, packaging etc whereas Coca Cola has looked for advertisement and managed to boost sales.
In this case again the power of advertisement helped the company to survive. With reference to the above cases the importance and power of advertisement for any organization is clear ,therefore I would like to conclude by saying that ‘Advertisement can be seen as the backbone of any organization’.
